Another Long Update

I've got the sick so it looks like I might actually get some blogging in. Here's another catch up on what's going on...

FOOTBALL BANQUET

Was about a week and a half ago. It's kinda like football's mini version of the Oscars. 2 huge projection screens, 2 smaller tvs all showing the guy speaking as well as showing highlights of each player that is awarded something. Seniors wear tuxes and the whole shibang. It was at the Marriott - pretty good food and it was fun to see some of the friends we/I haven't seen in awhile. But....very long.

FOOTBALL

Spring Ball has officially started and Matt's got the bumps and bruises to show it. This means more practicing and full on practicing too. He gets tougher and stronger every day.

HOME LIFE

Like I said earlier, I'm a sickling today but Matt has been a true sweetheart. He did all the dishes (there was a ton) and did all the laundy including folding most of it and let me rest. The kids from downstairs come up and played Wii for about 3 hours...Matt is a lot more patient than I am and is so cute to watch play with kids. The kids are way funny to watch and play with but definitely have their dose of craziness in them. I concluded that I definitely need a couple more years for my patience to get better before we have kids of our own.

We also decided it was time to rearrange the furniture a week ago....so we did. We didn't do a whole lot cause we don't have a lot of room to do anything but we did what we could and I love the little bit of change it did for our living room.

We got a water filter and it is absolutely wonderful! I love it!

SCOOTER

The cat's out of the bag - we have a scooter! A 2003 Yamaha Zuma. We've had it for a few weeks now and Matt has loved it. We got a good deal on it and with its efficiency we calculated that it would pay for itself in a year with the money we save on gas. We've only had to pay about $2 to fill it up....that lasts 2 weeks! And it makes parking at BYU 200 times easier and faster.

GIRLS NIGHT

Last Friday I went with 4 girlies from high school for a reunion of all our good times together. Thanks Stephanie for takin pictures. Here's what came of it:
First stop: Dinner at the Pizza Factory
Stephanie, Lauren, Paula
Alyssa and Me

Back at Stephanie's house:

I think I laughed so hard I was almost crying when I saw this picture again.

It was so much fun if you couldn't tell from all the pictures.

Well I think that about does it for now atleast. We've got some fun stuff coming up in the future...hopefully this sickness will go away fast. I've been itching for a vacation but that probably won't come for awhile now that we found out the truck is going to cost us $400 to even pass safety. Anyways, that was just a random thought. Hopefully I'll be better and post more often. Toodles.

Max

Matthew Berrett Putnam maxed:

Bench Press: 385 lbs. **Yes, he has benched me a couple times, but I squirm too much according to him**

Squat: 500 lbs. - Not actually his max because his coach told him to stop at that so he doesn't hurt his foot....but STILL!

Way to go sweetie!

Life As We Know It

= BUSY but good. A lot has happened and I still have a lot to catch up on and who knows if I can even remember the most of it....but here it goes....this may get long... . . .

WORK

As many of you already know - I was promoted at work a while back to take over supervisor of the accounting department. It has been a task and a half so far but very much a blessing at the same time. It's been a little difficult transitioning because I'm still in the process of being trained in the accounts payable - which means I have to listen to the guy that is training me but technically his supervisor...and while learning that I am also trying to learn the supervisor ropes but the current supervisor has been sick as a dog during her pregnancy. I love her to death and this pregnancy has definitely taken its toll on her so she rarely comes in which means I have to try to learn things on my own. I have increased my work hours to 30 hours a week while still attempting to be full time at school with 13 credits. But it has a nice raise that came with the job too. Anyways, I'm already rambling.....

We have truly been blessed however with the promotion. Even though my life has become super extra busy I have still managed to get up every morning and basically on time to everything (that's amazing if you know me and mornings) and that = 8 a.m. every day. Of course I do sleep in every now again at my own choice. And Matt has been the perfect husband helping out whenever it is needed...I really couldn't do it without him.

SCHOOL

Matt and I have 2 classes together and that is probably one of the biggest blessings for us...atleast for me. One of them is smack in the middle of the day and it gives me the little extra boost every day when I see him. We don't get to spend a whole lot of time together so it makes it fun to be able to do homework and study together.

FOOTBALL

Is going well...atleast as far as I know. I get to brag for Matt - he benched 355 lbs! And that's not even his max! He's been working hard and his foot is doing great. He just has a funny lookin Frankenstein scar left on his foot. We'll be going to the football banquet next Wednesday.

GOAL

Matt and I have made it our goal to go to every temple in Utah - going to a different one every month. We started off by going to the Logan Temple last Saturday. We stayed at Matt's parents and got to see Seth and Tiffany's new little baby boy. It was such a fun weekend. I've already felt the extra strength from going to the temple and little baby Sawyer was so adorable.

SUPER MARIO GALAXY

Wendy let us borrow the game and we both ended up getting sorta addicted to it. Matt had it beat in 2 days. The first night after we borrowed it, Matt stayed up half the night playing it and I gave up waiting up for him and went to bed without him. Then we discovered 2 players on the game and I got addicted to it. I got to be his helper and gather stars and hold down the bad guys while he beats the levels....teamwork at its best.

Futureness

We just got home from visiting Wendy and Lyle's new home in Cedar Hills. And it's made me think of the things that I am absolutely most excited for when we have a home/live in a place nicer than our current apartment...which obviously don't have these:

  • Garage
  • Dishwasher
  • Electric Stove (ours is currently gas...ugh)
  • A huge bathtub

So basically this is the wishlist/requirements for our future house.

Will You Be My Valentine?

It's nice that from here on out, I'll have a valentine forever and always...another one of those things and days where I am just super happy to be married and makes me love my Matthew even more than I already do. This was our first Valentine's as a married couple. Anyways...

We spent the morning out right: sleeping in and just enjoying each other's company. We didn't get ready for the day til I think 3 or so in the afternoon. We just sat around, ate food, played on our computers, cuddled, etc.

Matt dropped me off at Wal-Mart to get my nails done for Valentine's...it's so fun having nails-I love em! Thanks hun! Then it was off to Tepanyaki for dinner. The food was delicious and it was just fun being together. We got there at about 8:15 but didn't get home til 10:45 (we only waited about 30 min. too...it was a very long dinner). I was exhausted and actually fell asleep on the couch once we got home. It was a very happy day together....so precious.

Best Hubby EVER

This past weekend:

Friday - Matt surprised me by taking me to 'He's Just Not That Into You.' (He could tell that I had wanted to go and so went and bought the tickets and wouldn't tell me what we were going to). We also went to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and got a yummy caramel apple to share.

Saturday - was a day of dancing. My sis, Cassie, had the Miss Drill Utah Competition and Matt was such a good sport. We went in the morning for the preliminaries to make sure we got to see her solo. Afterwards, we had a little insight that let us know she was going to be in the top 10 and would be performing that night. So...rather than going home and watching one of Matt's friends boxing match, he willingly stayed to support Cass. We went shopping around the area in between the prelims and final competition. It was the longest dance competition I have EVER been to. They combined 3 competitions into 1. It started at 6 and we didn't get home until 12:30 that night. And Matt sat through it all. Cassie did wonderfully-she did awesome!
Pretty sure we get the best supporting award for that night. It was all good fun though!

Love you Matt!

Heartache

I had a realization about the time Matt and I got engaged and every so often it comes around again. I've been able to look back on my mom's passing and see the blessings and strengths that I have received from it happening. I've been content in recognizing how much it has shaped it me to become me and the things that I learned from its occurence. I had only ever thought of it as how it had affected me, and only me.

However, the fact that Matt as well as our kids not having the opportunity of knowing my mom has just broken my heart. Although I was only 9 when she passed away, she was a huge part in shaping who I am now as well as all those years of my childhood. I think that Matt would totally get along with her and they would be good friends if she were still here. And our kids, not being able to grow up knowing their real grandma. I know she'll get to know them from wherever she is but I sure wish they could get to know her too. Matt's comment to my sadness today was, 'but this way we'll get to know the perfect Pam, we'll never see her anything but her best.'

I know she's watching over us all and she'll be the best guardian angel to our children. It just hurts my heart that they'll only be able to feel her spirit near them and not be able to sit in her lap or laugh along with her. Some days are just harder than others I suppose. Matt does a good job at making me happy again though.
