New Car!!!

We bought a car! And we're soooo excited and love it. It's a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, 19,000, and we got a pretty good deal on it if you ask me. Matt picked it up yesterday and neither us have wanted to let the other one drive it. :)

We're going to sell both the Cougar and truck (no we didn't do cash for clunkers ... it was a private seller). The Cougar's been struggling ... badly. Here's its long list of issues:
Oil Gasket leaking
Power steering pump leaking
Water Pump leaking
Heater and A/C broken ... no worky
Driver side window won't roll up (Matt tried for 3 hours to make it come up and it wouldn't budge ... that was his breaking point to get a new car)
Significant crack in windshield .... that appeared out of nowhere
Needs a new gas cap ... we left it in Scipio

We might see what we can do to fix it up and sell it .... or donate it to the kidney foundation ... whichever one comes out to more money of course.

But if you want to buy a '95 Chevy it's up for grabs.

We're so excited to have a reliable car that we won't have to worry about whether or not it is going to make it there or not. Especially since I'll be doing a bit of traveling by myself during this season for games and such. It really takes a load off our backs ... or at least mine anyways. The other plus is it'll turn into a good family car when that time comes around someday. We're planning on having for a super long time and absolutely running this car into the ground.

Anyways .... we're just so happy to have it and that we found a great deal. Yay for us!!

San Diego Day 2

Sunday, July 19

We went to church at a random ward that was close by and you'll never guess who just happened to be there ....... Elder Holland! He wasn't on the program or anything but sat on the stand with his wife and spoke. It was really cool ... and I thought it was interesting that he chose to speak to the youth of the ward and tell them about the need for preparation in their lives because of things going on in the world and yet to come and they'll need that strength. He also spoke of the tenderness of President Hinckley and the passing of authority he witnessed between him and President Monson. It was just cool ... we were really lucky and blessed that we chose to go to that ward. There was a line of about a bajillion people after sacrament meeting waiting to shake his hand so no we didn't shake his shand but still ....

We stayed at a little private studio apt we found on craigslist 2 seconds from the Mission Bay beach. He gave us 2 vintage bikes to ride around for the week (and we're talkin as rusty vintage as they come). We went for a bike ride and ended up at the Pacific Beach and admired the ocean and walked around. We went on the pier and watched the sunset .... and I took A LOT of pictures. I couldn't decide which ones to post ... so I posted all of them! Enjoy ...

The view from the pier and some random people fishing

Vacation Day 1

Saturday, July 18th

Thank you to Dad for driving us to the airport. We arrived in San Diego around 11:30 a.m. We got a rental car for the first 3 days and then got around on bikes the rest of the time.

We wandered around Coronado Island for awhile before we could check in.

The beach on Coronado Island by where we ate lunch - Matt's first time to ever touch beach sand and touch the ocean

Yay!! He's finally touched the ocean
We saw a little girl catch a pigeon with her bare hands
Matt surprised me on Friday that we were going to a Padres baseball game - and front row seats too

Our view of the game - it was awesome - we had tons of fun watching the game

It was free visor game - they gave everyone these ... as you can see in the background

Talk about the funniest looking mascot ... friar tuck

And they even have different versions of their friar

We're Baaaccckkk

Back to reality ... unfortunately. We had a BLAST! We loved it and wish we were still there of course. I've got tons and tons of pictures to put and fun stories to tell. And once we get slightly more settled in ... posts will be flowing from my fingers! But ....... along with coming back to reality we came back with lots to unpack, loads of laundry, and a not so clean house that needs some work in multiple areas.

We made a couple stops on our way home from work ... one of which was the library cause Matt has been really wanting to re-read the 6th Harry Potter after we saw the movie ... so we became library card holders today. We not only walked out with Harry Potter but 2 other books and 2 movies. I've got a feeling he's got a lot of late nights of not being able to put the book down ahead of him (they're not small books). I just thought it was funny ... cause I'm the total opposite with books ... I very much dislike reading.

Happy Anniversary!!

I am quite the sickling with strep so I'll take tis opportunity where I can't do anything but lie around and wish my sweetheart a happy 1 year anniversary. We leave this Saturday for San Diego for our honeymoon re-do - hopefully where neither of us our sick and our car doesn't break down.

We were just talking the other day about how boring our lives would be without each other. Life is just so much better with him in my life. We love to be with each other and just have fun together. We truly are sweethearts. We fit together so perfectly sometimes even I'm suprised.

We've never raised our voices at each other...and don't plan to. It's amazing how well we understand each other and we can see eye to eye rather quickly.

Matt is absolutely the sweetest husband possible. He came home from work with everything I could possibly want to make me feel better...orange juice, gatorade, chicken noodle soup, you name it.

The 25th is officially our one year mark ... we'll be coming home from San Diego. Time has just flown ... and in a good way. I still feel like we're newlyweds with a little more perspective on things. Married life is tons of fun and I am so grateful for him and that we were brought together when we were.

I LOVE YOU SWEETHEART!! Thanks for a wonderful year and we have many more awesome years to come.

This Year Marks 10

10 years ago today, my mom passed away.

I definitely think this past year has been the hardest on me (besides the first couple years) ... so much for it getting easier.

I don't feel like I have much to say besides I miss her. She is an amazing person. I've done a lot of rambling on the blog in the past 6 months on my thoughts and feelings with her being gone. Plus, if I write too much I'll start bawling and I've actually done semi-good today.

It was nice to have my brother over last night and show him the book I've been making and kinda go through some of her stuff and her journals.

Love you, miss you. I know you're watching over us.

It's BOOKED!

San Diego here we come! Our anniversary trip ... we found a great deal staying in little studio apartment for a week 25 steps from the beach!

We're gonna play on the beach - Matt has never been to a beach before (besides his mission where he wasn't allowed to go on it) - SeaWorld and maybe even the San Diego Zoo.

We're both so excited we can hardly stand it!
