Ikea Struck Again!

We were pulled in by the commercial advertising Ikea's summer sale: 20 - 60% off

So we roped ourselves in to a trip after work only to spend quite a bit of money ... again ... on some wonderful stuff.

This time was just small stuff ... but it added up pretty quickly - we were both surprised when we rung everything up.
Dishes
Curtain Rod
Curtains
Measuring stuff
Towel Shelf

You wanna know what the best part is ........... we didn't even buy anything that was on sale! We got them all for really good prices but our whole plan of going to see what was on sale didn't really work. Oh Ikea.

Our last couple purchases were the big ones:
Our coffee table - made up of 4 small end tables ... I'll take a picture
A bookcase - this was the big purchase of $50 - and we got this on sale ... it's normally $90 .. I'll take a pic of this one too
And then add accessories and other little decorations

We are such dorks. Gotta love it.

We are Big Kids Now ...

We actually got approved for our very first credit card EVER! And they arrived in the mail today. It's like we're actually adults or something. Now...the only reason we got it is so that we can pay it off completely every month and build our credit (we have absolutely 0 at this point)....so a few years down the road when we actually want to buy a car, condo, elephant we actually can without having to have one of our parents cosign with us. I feel so old. :)

And ... we're ADDICTED to GOLF! Both of us! It's kind of like our married nitch. We even have our own sets of clubs ... we got lucky with some super good deals. Matt even has a set of extra long clubs thanks to craigslist. And if you're looking for clubs ... go to Kmart - we were quite surprised - brand new set for $100!! It's awesome. We love spending time together and love playing around. And we've found that golf just happens to be the perfect thing for us.

Oh and when I say addicted I mean ADDICTED. We go at least once a week ... we had to set a limit for how much we can spend a week on going golfing ... or we would spend way more than we could afford. We keep the clubs in the trunk of the car so we can go basically whenever we want ... like right after work gets over. Matt looks forward to the Golf Channel coming on every week and will watch golf youtube videos any second he can get. I actually hid his computer from him and I'm surprised he hasn't gone crazy yet :P I would put up our latest golf pics from our Thanksgiving Point adventure but my camera is being retarded at the moment.

As you can tell ... we've just been having so much fun together I haven't taken the time to blog about it all.

Let's see ... what else has been going on ...

One of my best friends got married ... Congrats Serena! Another one down of the Brick Oven Five ... 3 more to go! Her wedding was beautiful and so was she. I had the opportunity to do her hair for the day ... my first wedding-do. It was also Matt and I's first chance to ever attend an actual temple ceremony. It was amazing and so beautiful. It brought back so many memories of our wedding day - so happy. We're coming up on a year ... in just one month! Time has flown, but I've loved every second of it. Being married is awesome.

I got her ready before myself of course...It was a very early morning
The happy couple about to head to the temple
Hehe

The Brick Oven Five
So precious.
Moving on ... looks like this is going to be a pretty long post ...
We've done a bit of remodeling of furniture and rearranging at our apt ... and ... it is actually semi-clean due to some very long hours of cleaning
Ikea is to thank for the new furniture we've come upon ... my new favorite store (also very addicting). We spent the most we have ever spent on a piece of furniture ... $50. The closest runner up is $25 for our mattress and boxsprings. I've already designed every room in my dream home from them.
We are now Executive Costco members ... oooh
An evening at Aspen Grove visiting my sis and her kids - holy cow they've gotten so big!
I am trying to cook more and we are trying to eat healthier ... sorta ... baby steps
One of our few and only married couple friends moved away today ... you could probably say they were our closest married friends - Brad and Jessie - we're going to miss you!
Still working everyday all day - you can check out our company's new blog all about actually applying emergency preparedness and food storage: preparednesspantry.blogspot.com
Matt is a wonderful hubby
It's getting really late and I'm about to fall asleep
We are super blessed
We have a lot of exciting adventures coming up: 4th of July at the Garrards on the river, Alger Family Reunion camping in Parowan, and our anniversary trip! (we're still figuring out the details on that one).
I'm definitely sleepy tired and can't think anymore. It's past my bedtime. I'll probably remember stuff I didn't add while I'm at work tomorrow.
Toodles for now.

Pictures!!

I'm finally putting them up! Here's a bunch of random ones that don't at all coincide with each other but it works.

This is at the driving range - my first ever experience at real golf and our first adventure golfing as a married couple. We got paired with 2 super good guys but we had tons of fun. We're starting to pick up on it. We've gone with my dad and brothers and we're going tomorrow too. I forgot to take pictures when we were actually golfing both times.

Here's the stitches Matt got a couple weeks ago. It's all healed now.

We spent a Friday night in this. We watched Harry Potter on Matt's laptop and then got poured on in the middle of the night. Good times.

We got these taken at the mall in one of those booths - the top one is my favorite.

A few months ago we went to Matt's cousin's wedding - themed 1920's

Happy Birthday Christy!!

Happy Birthday to a wonderful person!

Christy's an amazing person and has done a lot for me and so many others.  I would definitely not be the same person if not for her.  We've definitely had our ups and downs.  We've had a lot of good memories together:

Staying up through all hours of the night talking and laughing
Up til 4 in the morning shredding beef
Young Women's activities - making handouts
Painting toenails/manicures/pedicures
Scrapbooking
And so on and so forth

Hope you had a great day planting your garden and enjoying your new flowers! Happy Birthday!

My Daily Struggle

My job can be exhausting. Or I should say, my job is exhausting when I'm there everyday, 8 hours a day.  So, by the time I come home I don't necessarily have the desire to cook a nice big dinner, clean the apt and do all the stuff I should do everyday.

So, our apt is quite messy.

I guess this is more of my disclaimer for anyone that comes to our apt.  I'm definitely not happy about it and it's slowly but surely getting cleaner but it's been a frustrating thing for me. I wish I didn't have to clean for a clean apt.

I know, I just need to buckle down and do it but it's hard for me.

I wake up with tons of motivation to come home from work and go on a cleaning spree and clean and organize it all ... but once work is done ... my body has another idea - too tired to do anything.

This is also my commitment that it will get done - Matt and I will get this little house of ours clean and I mean spotless clean.

And thanks to my bestie that has offered to come and help us clean ... once we actually get a couple hours to get it all done.

It's Found

It was lost last Friday, but it has been found.

Last time it was in his jacket pocket ... this time he found it somewhere in our bedroom.

If only they made beepers like keys to your car so we could just push the button and his wallet would beep.  Or if it could be attached to his phone - I think I call his phone once a day in order to find it.

I still love him lots and lots and he is wonderful no matter how many things he misplaces.  This is his version of 'burning peas and breaking glasses' :)

MIA

Matt lost his wallet ... again!
